Skateboard Decks
Since the inception of skateboarding, the sport has since become a giant in the world of media and extreme sports; it even probably started the genre of extreme sports. Even if you are not a skateboarder, I am sure you have heard of Tony Hawk's infamous "900" landed on June 27, 1999 during the X-Games in San Francisco. What a world awakener that was to everyone, a feat never achieved before. Exciting is it not?
Well at the heart of all this wonder and flash is actually the heart or the soul where it all began the skateboard deck. Skateboard decks are that part of the board, that is where it all comes together to make everything work, from the stunts, tricks and flips you attempt to the size of person capable of riding it. The truck, wheels, rad designs and graphics and of course the skateboarder come together on this one entity called skateboard decks.
Why is the deck so important? Well, first you can look at the width of the board which at standard specs is between 7-8.5 inches; pretty small is it not? But in reality the smaller the skateboard decks are the more tricks can be attempted by the skateboarder, a person who wears size '12' is usually about 8-8.5 incher depending on how much of their feet they want on the board and yes that is right 8-8.5 for a size '12'.
There is also the curvature of the nose and tail which highly determines your future as a skateboarder depending on the curved it is, i.e. the more curve is has the better it is for you. Length also comes into comes into play even height has its place although it has not as much impact as the rest. So skateboard decks do actually determine not just what kind of skater you are but how good your skateboarding will be.
The deck is also where the graphics and designs are found, which actually show how the skateboarder is representing, if he/she is one a team, if they like blank skateboard decks or old school vintage skateboard decks or even the world renowned zero skateboard line.
Before you even think about becoming a pro like Tony first thing first choose the best skateboard deck for you and the rest will follow. Also, as a hint do not let price hinder your choice since buying a cheap one will only have a buying another cheap one in a few weekes of that long when you could have bought a decent priced one in the first place.
